Vision Statement

I believe that everything in the school will have an impact on children's learning. The physical environment, our values, attitudes about how children learn, relationships with one another and resources will affect the life chances of our children. I want Ranvilles Infant School to be a community in which pupils and adults respect and trust each other, and everything that happens is seen to be fair.

We place learning at the centre of our school and understand that we learn best when we are motivated and challenged by excellent teachers and a creative curriculum. We therefore will provide a stimulating, exciting environment and curriculum, excellent teaching in an atmosphere where everyone feels valued and safe, ideas can flourish and children can realise their full potential.

We learn through interesting project work, integrating subjects where possible so that they are more meaningful to the children. We want their time at our school to be memorable, to build upon what they know and can do and help them to become lifelong learners. We will continuously assess our children's work and behaviour, taking into account what parents and the children themselves think and this will help us plan their next steps.

Children at Ranvilles Infant School will be challenged and motivated to learn through our values underpinning everything we do. (See our ethos and learning values booklet)

We also recognise that we are educating children for the future where technology will play an even bigger part and therefore we will continue to lead the way in this area of the curriculum, using it as an important tool in all that we do.

Great news - we have been assessed for the Rights, Respecting Schools Award and been awarded Level 2 by Peter Barton and Edward Waller from UNICEF. The award recognises that the school :

  • has the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child (UNCRC) at the heart of the core values of a school

  • teachers have opportunities to improve their knowledge and understanding of global issues and how they relate to children and human rights

  • pupils participate in wider initiatives – local, national and global

  • all pupils are knowledgeable of the content of the UNCRC and its relevance to themselves, the school and the wider world (appropriate to age and ability)

  • systematic opportunities are provided for children to participate in decisions which affect them

These are 5 of the 23 criteria the school had to meet to achieve this award.
