At Ranvilles Infant School assessment for learning is a key component in our teaching and learning. Through ongoing assessment children are able to recognise their achievements and set their own next steps in learning. Each child has a 'Steps to Learning' pack for each subject within the National Curriculum. These are accessed as part of every lesson by the child and teacher. The children can identify their next steps and make their own self-assessment at the end of the lesson in conjunction with the teachers marking.
We use an online learning portal called Tapestry within all year groups. Tapestry is used to inform parents of what their child will be learning, how well they achieved the learning and the child's next steps. We use Tapestry for feedback marking because it can be shared with the parents and the child instantly. We can then use this information to build on children's prior knowledge in the next lesson.
